Richard is a PGA Class A Golf Professional, and his background in the golf business has touched almost every phase of the golf industry during his 30+ year career. With his degree in Finance & Marketing from U.C. Berkeley and a degree in Golf Course Operations & Management, he began his golf career at a private golf course in the San Diego area which hosted an LPGA tour event. One of his junior students has gone on to be a 4-time winner on the PGA Tour and a member of the 2017 Presidents Cup Team. One of Richard’s favorite stops during his career in golf was with Senior Tour Players where he managed the construction of a 27-hole Johnny Miller Signature resort golf course in Las Vegas with consultation from Chi Chi Rodriguez. Richard was the Head Golf Professional Rio Secco Golf Club, home to Butch Harmon’s School of Golf and home to the Wendy’s Three Tour Challenge. Upon moving to Houston to be near family, Richard became a Certified Personal Coach with GolfTEC where quote “I learned more about the golf swing and how to make people better, faster than in my entire teaching career”. Richard is pleased to be leading the staff at Pearland Golf Club and helping ownership re-position the club into a vibrant place to enjoy the game we love while still enjoying his passion for teaching the game.
Mike has been teaching golf for 20 years. In 2009 he was certified to teach golf by the United States Golf Teaching Federation and Mike is currently a PGA Associate. Since 2001 he has done over 3000 lessons and believes in making your golf swing work for you. If you want a complete overhaul, he will do that as well. He has studied Sean Foley’s instructional methods and took a lesson from Sean. Mike can show you how to “compress” the golf ball and improve your accuracy.
Mike’s specialty is the short game. He is a student of short game guru, Dave Pelz, and has studied Pelz’ Short Game and Putting Bibles. His short game clinics attracted golfers from all over the State of Maine.
Mike has tremendous knowledge of the wedge game. He teaches all wedge shots from 100 yards to fringe chip shots. His knowledge of appropriate degree of loft, bounce and grind options will help you be a better short game player.
He has taught such stars at Dave Cowans, NBA Hall of Fame; John Bunting, 12-year linebacker for the Philadelphia Eagles, Head Coach North Carolina Tar Heels, and defensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs; and several Red Sox and Sea Dog’s baseball players.
Mike is also a “player”. He has played on the Iron Man Tour, Moonlight Tour, West Florida Tour, and The Florida Professional Tour. He has been a Club Champion several times and played a couple of years in the NH Junior Championships. He may tap you on the shoulder to join him in a local Pro-Am event.
In addition to Mike’s passion for golf, he spent time on the United States Ski Team; was a Class A tennis player; was an all-state football halfback and honorable mention linebacker; NH State Football Champion; NH State Shrine Football Team; NH State Decathlon Champion, and a former personal fitness trainer certified by the International Sports Science Association.
