Head Golf Professional
Amy Willmon, a native of Houston, has been a PGA Member and Teaching Professional for over 10 years. Introduced to the game of golf at the age of four, by the age of seven, Amy had already established herself an impressive junior career.
Growing up, Amy became recognized as one of the city’s top junior golfers, competing in the Houston Golf Association. Often selected as the city’s Player of the Year, Amy finished her junior golf career recording 32 wins out of 33 events.
Amy completed her junior career with AJGA events finishing with a stroke average of 73. Amy took her dominating game to the University of Texas at El Paso, where she led the Lady Miners to several top 10 finishes. Holding the all-time low scoring record at UTEP of 72.1, Amy graduated with a BA in Communications/Advertising with a GPA of 4.0 and finished ranked 14th in NCAA Division I Women’s Golf.
After graduating, Amy enrolled in the PGA program with goals of becoming a Head Golf Professional and certified PGA Teaching Professional. Three short years after graduation, Amy found herself as the first female head golf professional in the PGA’s Southwest Section. It was at Santa Teresa CC, where Amy decided to focus her career on teaching. Accepting the position as Director of Instruction at one of Dallas’ most prestigious clubs, Las Colinas C.C., Amy become recognized for her instruction.
A top provider for the PGA Clinic Get Golf Ready, the development of junior golfers and private instruction, over her career, Amy has had the opportunity to study and improve her teaching skills under some of the industry’s Top 100 instructors. Her passion is helping golfers of all skill levels achieve their full potential and reach their personal goals. With her bubbly personality and drive to succeed, it’s easy to see why she is a valued asset.
The decision to accept the position as Head Golf Professional at Pearland Golf Club was easy for Amy. “The potential here in Pearland is unbelievable. Director of Instruction
Our PGA Pro and Director of Instruction Matt Schewe has been a PGA member for 26 years. His dedication to teaching golf shows in his positive attitude and enjoyment of working with Juniors, beginners and advanced players alike.
Matt was the head golf professional at Texas A & M University and an instructor at Kingwood Country Club. The Houston Press named him the 2009 Teacher of the Year. He has also worked with the famous golf instructors Peter Kostis and Dr. Gary Wiren.
His most notable students have been basketball stars Penny Hardaway and Sam Cassell, actor Kurt Russell and actress Sally Field. Matt competes regularly in the Senior Series PGA events all over Texas.
He believes in an effortless golf swing that is smooth and easy. He can teach anyone how to play the great game of golf, as well as help advanced players improve!

Israel “Izzy” Gonzalez
General Manager and Director of Golf
Izzy got into the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) Program in 1987 and became a PGA Pro in 1990. He grew up in Huffman and has managed courses in Houston, Kingwood and Chicago, Illinois. He spent time working with golf legend Arnold Palmer and hosted a Secret Service tournament in Kingwood, where he met former President George H.W. Bush.
Izzy says that the deciding factor for him to come to Pearland was, “the potential for growth. Golf has been on a decline for the last few years, but I see tremendous potential here in Pearland. Not many courses offer four sets of men’s and two sets of ladies’ tees. It’s a great course with many unique features.”
